Christopher Peter Meloni is an American actor and is famous as a character actor in the cult TV series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. At the age of 18, he began to develop an interest in acting. At the University of Colorado at Boulder where he took classes in acting. Though he has been active in both films and television, but it was his character on the smaller screen that earned him a cult followers. His ability to play characters from both sides of the law has attracted the attention of viewers. He played a serial killer in the first TV series he appeared in but later went on to portray the character as an NYPD detective. The actor has been nominated several times for the prestigious Emmy Awards and the PRISM Awards for his smaller screen appearances. He is known for his distinctive piercing, blue eyes which have been said to make him look handsome. They've helped him portray rough characters in a charming manner. People's magazine listed him as one of the Sexiest Men Alive for 2006.
